It is hard to believe that 2024 is nearly half over, and we are less than a week from the longest day of the year. For those of you who have never been to Maine for the summer solstice, there are approximately 15 and a half hours of sunlight. That is 7 hours more than we experience during the winter solstice. It is a truly special time of year as we kick into full “Vacationland” mode with our beautiful beaches, boating, golf, hiking, biking, and more.
There are areas of the country that are starting to feel the chilling impact of 7% mortgage rates combined with record-high home prices, leading to more unsold homes for sale, softening prices, longer days on the market, and tempered buyer enthusiasm. I am pleased to report that Maine is clearly not one of those places. In fact, the general tone of the Maine market is very healthy.
