From the Founder
I am incredibly grateful for our dedicated staff, extraordinary agents, and our valued clients, numbering nearly 10,000, who have trusted us with their real estate dreams. When I started the company 20 years ago with 6 agents and one office, I had relatively high aspirations to set a higher standard of real estate brokerage. My aim was to run Legacy Properties Sotheby’s International Realty as a business and to provide the commensurate investment of financial, intellectual, and physical capital.
I have never focused on our team size or the number of transactions completed. My exclusive focus was to be the very best that our marketplace for real estate had to offer. We set a standard in serving and servicing our clients’ wants and needs. We have been unwavering in delivering a professionalism that exceeds our clients’ expectations. We were a market leader and continue to be in the quality of our overall presentation of our listed homes for sale. We have built a culture driven by fiduciary responsibility, rock solid advice, high-touch service, and repeatedly generating exceptional results.
I am proud to say that our growth has been driven by the hard work and focus of our entire team. Our 20th anniversary milestone has inspired me to revisit our roots. Honestly, I had not fully appreciated how hard it would be to start a real estate company from scratch. There was lots of competition around every corner and in every town. Even when the financial markets crashed between 2008 and 2010, we stayed the course. I believed we had a client service formula and a business plan that would ultimately prevail despite the gale force headwinds.
Having grown, organically, to more than 100 agents across six offices focusing on Maine and New Hampshire, we have transacted real estate brokerage business in dozens of towns throughout Northern New England. We have become the dominant company in the luxury property segment regardless of how it is defined. Our company ranks number one for all sales of $550,000 and higher and for every category and price point beyond. We also rank number one for waterfront sales, sales over $1 million, sales over $2.5 million, sales over $5 million, and much more.
The past 20 years have gone by much too quickly. I have been so fortunate to surround myself with exceptional people who do incredible things each and every day. We all make each other better, and our focus on our amazing clients continues to inspire us to do more and do it even better. I can only presume that the next decade will be even better than the past two.
