We’ve come to apple picking season—one of the most beloved fall activities in the state around this time of year. Maine boasts a thriving apple industry, with numerous orchards offering visitors the opportunity to pick their own fresh apples. The Maine Pomological Society, a non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening the apple sector, states that “Maine has well over 100 varieties of apples currently grown in the state, but most farms grow 20 to 30 varieties.” This incredible variety allows you to find your perfect apple, from Granny Smiths to sweet Honeycrisps.
